~Who We Are~

Our Mission & Legacy

Founded to preserve and share the truth of Southern heritage, our museum is dedicated to telling the story of the Confederacy with accuracy, dignity, and historical integrity.

~History Lives Here~

UNCOVER THE TRUTH OF A NATION DIVIDED

The Museum and Library of Confederate History is a nonprofit institution dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of the Confederacy and the Southern people. Founded and maintained by the Sons of Confederate Veterans, we provide an honest, respectful, and thorough account of the War Between the States and its aftermath.

Our collection includes weapons, uniforms, letters, books, flags, and documents—many from local families. But we go beyond artifacts: we tell the stories of individuals and communities, from the soldiers in the field to the women and children who endured loss, poverty, and occupation.

Our Mission

Remember. Respect. Reclaim.

The Museum and Library of Confederate History is committed to preserving the truth, memory, and legacy of the Confederacy and the Southern people. We seek to educate the public with honesty and reverence for the Constitution, individual liberty, and the sacrifices of those who lived through the War Between the States and its aftermath.

We believe in:

  • Honoring Confederate soldiers and the families who supported them
  • Preserving original artifacts and primary documents
  • Defending the Constitution, states’ rights, and the rule of law
  • Exploring the continued struggle of the Southern people during Reconstruction
  • Telling the often-overlooked stories of resistance, such as the Red Shirt movement
  • Hosting community events that connect past and present

Our work is grounded in the belief that history should not be erased or rewritten. From the suspension of constitutional liberties during Lincoln’s presidency to the suffering endured during Reconstruction, we present a full account of Southern experience, including voices often excluded from mainstream narratives.
